Bready Bunch Sunflower Shoot!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

Today we have a single giant blog post with two complete photo galleries. First, a set of the Bready Bunch chasing a feather toy around the living room and learning to fly, along with a couple bonus photos of the faculty. Second, a gallery of arranged photos in the “studio” with a sunflower theme for the sons of Flour. I hope you enjoy! Don’t forget if you click the photos and scroll through you have to do each set separately.

We’re still working on arranging the adoptions for Flour, Corn, Rye, and Potato and the surgery for Millet so we don’t have exact dates yet but we can tell you that Flour and Corn are being adopted together, and Rye and Potato are being adopted together. The three boys are going for their neuters on the 19th and Flour will be in for a recheck that same day to see when we can take a second go at her spay. Millet will be staying around the Academy for a few months while we arrange the correction of his pectus excavatum and then make sure he’s got a good adopter to take care of him!

[Edit: Millet is scheduled for his surgery with the amazing Dr. Taylor on Thursday, May 6th, but he’ll be going in on the 5th and returning on the 7th.]

Don’t forget - it’s not too late to participate in the April Art uh, thingy — not exactly a ‘challenge’ — on Twitter!

Flying Toast Shoot!

Sunflower Studio Shoot!

For this shoot, the kittens and Flour had special collars provided by Bizzicat. Potato is in the yellow collar and the others are wearing their usual colors; Rye is red, Millet is green, and Corn is blue.

Bready Bunch , Port Oranges, and Smokey!

Our latest update on Smokey isn’t great news. You can click the button below for that:

To hopefully give a little cheer, here’s a short set of candid photos of the Bready Bunch and the Port Oranges, who we’ll introduce in more depth in the next blog post.

Bready Bunch, Faculty, Myth, and Rumor!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

Myth, Rumor, and Macadamia Nut are all scheduled to be picked up by their adopters this weekend, on Saturday the 6th. We’ll miss them! There’s photos of all three in the last gallery on this post, so keep scrolling!

But first… here’s new photos of the Bready Bunch looking sharp in their new collars!

Potato - Checkered Collar

Corn - Blue Collar

Millet - Green Collar

Rye - Red Collar

Bready Bunch Updated Photos!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

Here’s updated photos of the Bready Bunch! We know they are ridiculously difficult to tell apart but it won’t be too much longer until we can put collars on them to help make it easier.

Adoption Updates: Champagne went home today, Saturday the 13th. Truffle, Caviar, and Macadamia Nut are currently all scheduled to go home on the 20th - although Mac may be delayed if he doesn’t get over his URI. Saffron’s pick-up date is still being scheduled.

We’re still looking for an adopter for Myth, but we think DAWS may have found an adopter for Rumor. More on that later - they both still are at least a few weeks from being ready to go home (so there’s still time to get in an app for Myth)!

Millet is doing just great! He does have a ribcage that is malformed - whether you’d call it “Flat-Chested Kitten Syndrome” or “Pectus Excavatum” (which we’re surprised to learn isn’t the spell Harry Potter uses to demold a gelatin). These are similar conditions where the ribcage is flatter than usual. The good news is that after three weeks — and he’ll be four weeks tomorrow — kittens are usually “in the clear” and we expect him to be just fine. With the supplemental feedings we’ve been giving him, he’s gaining weight better than his brothers, even. There’s a chance that the best course for him may involve some type of surgical correction in the coming months, and we’re working closely with Dr. Katz to make that determination. We’ll be sure to keep you informed!

Flour didn’t really turn up for the photoshoot but we’ll make up for that in the next one!

Flour arrived on a transport at DAWS on Saturday the 16th, and didn’t waste any time delivering four healthy kittens on Sunday the 17th. Since then she’s been a wonderfully attentive momcat and has hardly left her kittens alone for a minute.

Because all four kittens are male tabbies — three mackerel tabbies and one classic tabby — we know it can be difficult to tell who is who on the live stream. For now, we can tell them apart in person and that’s good enough to make sure we know who is healthy. When they get old enough for collars in a few weeks, they’ll be easier for you to tell apart on the stream.

As you know, we have two (presumably) not-pregnant “mom” cats currently at the Academy as well, named “Myth” and “Rumor” - we’ll talk more about them soon in our next Mews blog posts!

Here’s some photos, separated out by kitten:

Potato:

Corn:

Millet:

Rye:

And of course, Momcat Flour (Who didn’t want to leave her kittens for proper photos):

Here’s a selection of group photos and in-situ shots - most of the ones with all three mackerel tabbies are in order, Potato, Corn, Millet. See if you can figure out the rest!
