Welcome to The Bready Bunch!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

Cheatsheet by MadamAmyLotta on our Discord!

Flour arrived on a transport at DAWS on Saturday the 16th, and didn’t waste any time delivering four healthy kittens on Sunday the 17th. Since then she’s been a wonderfully attentive momcat and has hardly left her kittens alone for a minute.

Because all four kittens are male tabbies — three mackerel tabbies and one classic tabby — we know it can be difficult to tell who is who on the live stream. For now, we can tell them apart in person and that’s good enough to make sure we know who is healthy. When they get old enough for collars in a few weeks, they’ll be easier for you to tell apart on the stream.

As you know, we have two (presumably) not-pregnant “mom” cats currently at the Academy as well, named “Myth” and “Rumor” - we’ll talk more about them soon in our next Mews blog posts!

Here’s some photos, separated out by kitten:

Potato:

Corn:

Millet:

Rye:

And of course, Momcat Flour (Who didn’t want to leave her kittens for proper photos):

Here’s a selection of group photos and in-situ shots - most of the ones with all three mackerel tabbies are in order, Potato, Corn, Millet. See if you can figure out the rest!

Fancy Feasters and Faculty Fhotos!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

A new momcat arrived yesterday, January 12th, and she’s a beautiful dilute calico. She’s a bit skittish but is already starting to enjoy her new situation! She simply cannot get enough petting and snuggling, and purrs with everything she’s got! We’re not convinced she’s pregnant, but we won’t really be able to say for certain until we take her to Dr. Katz for a full exam and x-ray on the 20th.

The second momcat we expected had her kittens before she could be transported, and has been diverted to a local foster as a result. However, DAWS has told us to they have another pregnant momcat they’d like us to foster arriving Saturday at noon! Unless that changes, it means we’ll still have Saturday mailbag, but with a hard cutoff around 11am. We’ve prepared the second annex for her arrival. She’s also scheduled to visit Dr. Katz on the 20th.

The Fancy Feasters are doing wonderfully and thanks to their extremely relaxed momcat, Truffle, they get full freedom to roam the house pretty much all day every day. They all have approved and confirmed and enthusiastic adopters, and all of the adopters are on our Discord now! It remains for the adoption dates to be decided and we don’t yet know which of the adopters will have social media available for updates, but we’ll be sure to let you know when it’s all set. The Fancy Feasters are scheduled for their “graduation” surgeries with Dr. Katz on February 1st, so Mac and Champ will be eligible to go home shortly thereafter and Truffle and Caviar (being adopted together) and Saffron will be eligible to go home after the 11th of February.

Don’t forget to check out the #KAWinterBreak2021 art prompts — it’s not too late to participate if you like!

Here’s some candid photos of the Feasters and the Faculty around the Academy!

Wherefore Art Thou?!

[Ed: Did we use this title already?]

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

We’re a week late posting the art challenge for January but there’s no reason you can’t start now! Syl has provided a list of prompts for each day and a hashtag on Twitter so you can tweet them out using the #KAWinterBreak2021 hashtag and we can all enjoy! Feel free to use whatever media suits your fancy, whether it’s pencil or paint or clay or sound! Or anything else!

Today we’re editing a bunch of candid photos of the Fancy Feasters taken over the last weeks, and hopeful to find time for a new winter photoshoot. Both of which will appear in a blog post here…in due time! Plus, DAWS may have news of new momcat(s) soon, so stay tuned!

Here’s some spectacular self-selected art in random order from the Harvest Festival, and you can view all the entries on Twitter by following the #KAHarvest2020 hashtag! Thank you so much to everyone who art-icipated! We love all of it!
